Foam-Rag Rollers Brush Out
If you've checked out my last blog post on "Foam-Rag Rollers" then you are ready for the next steps...the brush out! (FULL VIDEO BELOW) If you just leave your hair the exact way it is when you pull those rollers off then you end up with a very tight Shirley Temple curls. That works if you are five...but let's give ourselves a nice natural wave and curl with a bit of vintage glam.
Take out those homemade foam-rag rollers. Dab a small amount of pomade into your hands, about a pea size or two, and rub into your hands. Then lightly run it through your hair. Start of with just running your palms along the outside of your curled hair, concentrating on the stray hairs. Then gradually run your hair into the actual curls. This will help to control frizz and style your hair. If you have longer bangs, like myself, make sure to curl that with your roller as well. Now you are ready to begin your combing out process.
Brush your hair slowly with that bristled brush. Don't brush hard or fast because you will alter the curl and also make it frizzy once again. You want to achieve a flow look in your curls to get rid of that tight Shirley Temple curl. Keep brushing lightly till you achieve the look you want. I find that if you style your hair with both you brush and your hands it turns out perfect. You have to move back and forth from brush to hands. Constantly have some pomade in your hands to better shape your hair. Then move onto your bangs, if you have any, and brush it out with the bristled brush. Grab a hold of your bangs and pull them back. Then, with your teasing comb, start back combing your bangs. You are making sure all of your bangs are back-combed. Then with your bristled brush you will be brushing out those bangs lightly by starting from the outer part of the bangs. Don't put those bristle all the way through your bangs. You don't want to brush out the hard work you put into that tease. Smooth out the outer appearance of those bangs as best as you can. Then finish off your look with some good hairspray. Boom! You are done!
